Saying a fond farewell to 2015!

2015 has been a big year at Woodville and we have heard many stories of our client’s lives being enriched as they reach new goals and are very privileged to have shared a small part of their journeys. December was a month of celebration of all we achieved together as a community.

On Friday 11 December our Disability clients enthusiastically enjoyed their Rockstar! themed end of year party. Clients and staff all rocked their outfits and the staff put on a special dance for their clients to show their appreciation for all of the times they have danced, sung and presented for us! We look forward to seeing our clients again when services resume on 12 January.

Monday 14 December brought us to the graduation of some of our Early Learning Centre’s children who are heading off to school next year. It was wonderful to see them all dressed up in cap and gowns – and we are sure they especially loved the cake afterwards! We wish the Kindergarten class of 2016 all the best, and look forward to seeing all the other children back on 18 January for a new year filled with fun and learning.

On Friday 18 December our Community Initiative Team organised Community End of Year Party. During the party we had Ginger Bread House making – it was wonderful to see children engaging in hands on fun with their parents and grandparents (some families came with three generations!). We also have Wreath making that was not only popular with all the young kids – and the young at heart. We are sure there will be some wonderfully decorated doors this year!  Our volunteer youth were very busy with ball games, loops, tenpin bowling. The Community Initiatives Teams looks forward to hearing all about the holiday activities of our community on 4 January.

Woodville would like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year – we look forward to seeing you all in 2016!

2015 AGM

Our community gathered for the 2015 Woodville Alliance AGM on Wednesday 11th November for an evening of fun and some truly heartwarming stories.

The chair of our board opened with a traditional welcome and then we heard from Christine, Ashley and Suzanne of our Disability Services team who shared stories of three of our clients who reached their goals this year. We heard some beautiful singing from the EARTH Echoes choir led by Montclair. There must have been some sort of dust blown into the room because there was quite a few people seemed to have something in their eye!

We also had an interview with Tiara from the Coffee Cart Crew who talked about how learning to be a barista through this social enterprise helped widen her appreciation of coffee as well as prepare her for a return to work after her youngest started kindergarten  – she has now commenced paid employment using her skills.

We would like to thank all our staff, clients and community for a wonderful year and greatly look forward to next year and working together to reach even more goals!
