Illuminate!
Its not everyday that you stumble into a Fruit Cocktail Bar to be greeted by angelic portraits of the most unlikely characters. Hanging from the wall were amazing pictures created in an artistic collaboration between some of the more colourful characters from Woodville Alliances’ community centre and renowned photographer Peter Solness. The intent was to challenge us to see beyond typical stereotypes we can make about people, to view them in a new light, even a heavenly light. The respect developed between the photo ‘subjects’ and artist was pretty special. So too the pride oozing out almost as much as the Fruit Cocktail glassed up by Villawood store owner Ahmad (you’re mad if you don’t suck up one of his carrot juices).
