Over the past 12 months I have been assigned the particularly rewarding task of taking a group of 6 of our service users to a Woodwork program run by Afford Disability Services at Guildford. The group have gained many new skills and learnt to work with both hand and power tools to complete individual projects such as bird habitat boxes, planter boxes, letter sorters, spice racks, recipe boxes and stationary containers.
During the past 12 months the group have gone from associates to a team of focused and dedicated friends who have demonstrated pride and cooperation in every element of each task they complete. Most recently we completed our first group project – a coat rack. It now takes pride of place in the reception area of the Earth Centre.
Well done to the Woodwork Group – keep up the hard work!
