Suzanne’s story
I just love meeting families, it’s the best part about my job!
My role is that of Acting Manager, Person Centred Practice at Woodville Alliance Disability Services.
I organise the operational side of our business, ensuring we provide an excellent service to adults with an intellectual disability.
The ‘person-centred’ part of my job title means making sure we support our clients by tailoring our offerings to the skills, passions and loves of each individual. We support our clients to exercise choice and have an inclusive and meaningful life. We open up opportunities to people to live the life they want, be a part of their community, strengthen relationships and make friends, to name a few.
Seeing someone’s situation and being able to support and care for that person and help that person develop and grow with the expertise we have — it energises me.
It’s also about supporting the families – our expertise can enrich their family and give them peace of mind. I love getting to know our clients and I treasure their individuality —getting to know that individual and considering all the ways in which we can support them.
Another thing I love is working with people who share the same passion as me, that is, to enrich the lives of so many people and break down barriers for people with a disability.
